The Nave Museum in Victoria will present an exhibit of seventy fine black-and-white photographs of historic houses by Rick Gardner, a Houston architectural photographer. In 1975, he received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and came to the area to photograph historic houses in Victoria, Cuero, Hallettsville, Gonzales, Schulenburg, Beeville and Goliad. These houses were about 100 years old in 1975 and the large format pictures show what they looked like then. Built in Victorian and Neo-Classical styles, the houses have a vernacular Texas flavor. Many of the houses are still standing today. The show opens Friday, November 16, 2017 and prints will be available for purchase.
